Unilever layoffs dozens in Israel

Unilever, the fourth largest food company in Israel, began the process of layoffs and reducing its workforce on Thursday. According to a company statement, "Unilever is continually looking at an internal streamlining processes. As part of this, the company is reducing staff by a few dozen employees out of total of 2,500."

The company is offering people who are approaching retirement age voluntary retirement program under preferential conditions. In addition, the process will include operational consolidation of the company's headquarters. The statement concluded, "We believe that these processes are another means of maintaining the strength of the company and its future."
