Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare to layoff 100 employees

Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare, which opened a $450-million hospital in June, told the state it will cut 100 jobs. Last month the health system announced plans to close two inpatient care units at its old hospital site, making room for an expanded long-term care unit, as well as assisted and independent living facilities.

"It is anticipated that several employees will be retained by the health system," a spokesman said. "Comprehensive outplacement services are being offered by EMHC for those who have not found another opportunity."
