Wisconsin Public Service plans for layoffs

Dozens of Wisconsin Public Service workers are being notified about potential layoffs one year from now.

WPS says the layoff notices went to the union representing 74 employees who work in connection with the older, coal-fired power generating plants in Green Bay and Weston.

WPS says the potential for layoffs is there, because of uncertainty about current and proposed air pollution regulations and what impact they'll have on the plants.

WPS says the layoff notices could be changed, extended, or withdrawn at its discretion.
