Trane facilities in La Crosse announces 98 layoffs

98 production workers at Trane facilities in La Crosse get notice they're being laid off.

Misty Zelent, Director of External Communications for Ingersoll Rand, Trane's parent company, issued a statement Thursday afternoon.

The statement cited a drop in international orders for the Trane CenTraVac product made in La Crosse as the reason for the layoffs.  The statement concludes that

The 98 will leave in two segments-48 workers as of December 12th, and the remaining 50 on December 19th. The workers could be recalled if production increases.

According to the La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce, Trane employs 2350 full time workers, which makes it the city's fourth largest employer.
