TXU Energy cuts 100 jobs

Dallas-based TXU Energy has conducted layoffs as part of consolidation at the corporate level, a spokesman said Thursday.

Allan Koenig, a spokesman for TXU parent company Energy Future Holdings, said the layoffs occurred last week and numbered fewer than 100. TXU employs about 1,000 people.

Koenig said in an email that the layoffs were part of TXU’s steps to deliver more efficient customer service.

“Over the past four years, we’ve done that by investing heavily in new technologies and steadily increased our staffing levels to implement significant customer service improvements,” Koenig said. “While decisions like this are never easy, the longer term trend is still one of investing heavily in the business for the benefit of our customers.”
