Controversial law firm Steven J. Baum to close

A law firm that represents some major mortgage lenders and was the subject of a NY Times article when their employees dressed like the homeless for Halloween announced they're laying off those same workers and shutting down.

A statement from the Steven J. Baum firm says the company has 67 full and part-time employees at its Amherst location and about 22 full and part-time employees on Long Island.  "Disrupting the livelihoods of so many dedicated and hardworking people is extremely painful," said Steven J. Baum. "But the loss of so much business left us no choice but to file these notices."
